Other bad experiences at digital screenings...

When I went to see MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (the Maria Friedman production) in a movie theater on 42nd Street, the projection and sound were fine, but I heard complaints from people who saw it at other locations. When a friend of mine went to a special event digital screening of the movie SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, he said the projection was so poor that the movie practically looked like it was in black and white. (I have experienced and heard of other examples of bad projection of movies that are not theater-related, so I won't mention them here.) Really, if they're going to keep showing these things, the theaters and their staffs had better get their act together. As I said, I'm going to avoid attending any of these screenings in future, unless it's something I feel I absolutely have to see and have no other option to see it.
