Easier to miss is that Martha Washington didn't name a feral tomcat after Hamilton. That was part of a rumor campaign against him started by John and Abigail Adams (who seemed absolutely obsessed with his sex life - both real and imagined). Lin says he added Hamilton's "that's true" because he liked the idea of Hamilton owning up to it, even though it was false.

But yeah, like every other biographical musical, movie, TV show, etc., some facts have been changed to fit the narrative.

Or that his mother wasn't a prostitute (well they use "whore" in the show which is a more subjective term, but the implication of prostitution is strong in the show).

I think my biggest problem with the show (which in general I love) is the complete mess they make out of the Election of 1800.

Well...that description is a deliberately insulting one derived from John Adams; but I recall that even Chernow grants that by 18th Century 'genteel' standards the label may have fit.
