I felt this same way. I was a big fan of Sons of the Prophet, and the reaction both here and at BWW has been relatively muted to this play. A lot of "good but not great" responses. The strong critical acclaim was a surprise to me. Was this a world premiere? I wonder if this show, like MotherF----- with the Hat, simply wasn't fully shaped at the beginning of the preview period and needed that time to get to a good place.
