1/2 good
1/2 tedious

Good: the adults and their relationships, history & interaction.

Tedious: the 'daughter & her runaway bf' scenes. boring & beyond.

Hated to see the set turn to reveal the "kids" & their plight; over & over again.

Although all 6 are fine actors director hasn't really solved the back & forth 'issue' and the 'kids' characters & plot are (sorry playwright) just not very good or interesting

Pollono's Small Engine Repair was quite good. I found his Lost Girls even better.

[Possible spoiler] One line towards the end of Lost Girls may lead the viewer to consider whether the action taking place among the adults is on the same day as the action taking place between the youngsters. [End possible spoiler]

Lost Girls is miles ahead of The Humans. Though I love the actors in The Humans, I'm still trying to get my mind around the news that play has been chosen to transfer to Broadway.

I'm sorry, what?

One line toward the end may lead you to CONSIDER whether the action is taking place on the same day?

I think the entire play seems to have gone over your head. It completely rests on the surprise that happens when the older couple says "McSorley's" and you (should) discover that the younger couple are the same people. I feel you missed the entire ending and, basically, the whole play.

(And why would you include that spoiler in your posting in the first place? Very odd.

Lost Girls DOUBLE SPOILER

Westchester Commuter: Glad you liked it as well. Regarding the ending: I was pretty certain that the twist was that we hadn't been seeing the daughter as we had assumed, but rather a flashback to the youth of the mother and father. The girl who returned at the end was dressed differently than the girl in the flashback and she'd gone to Boston not Pennsylvania as had the two in the flashback. I found it to be a pretty neat trick, though quite sad, yet leaving some hope that the daughter might have a chance at a better life than her parents. I was also pleased at the other surprise (at least to me): that the religious girlfriend whom I assumed at first was being set up to be the usual fundamentalist comic relief turned out to have some serious depth of character.
