What do you think Broadway *is* these days? Cruise ships and Vegas is a sizable portion of the audience, and these shows get made for them, and they generally do well, or at least appear to.

Thankfully, the art and the more interesting commercial shows get made as well, but not as much as we would like, and they don't play as many people as they might once have.

That's just Broadway in 2015.
I've kind of made peace with it, because I'd still like to work there one day.
