Revisit to CURIOUS INCIDENT

Posted by: mamaleh 10:28 pm EDT 10/31/15

I saw Alex Sharp in CURIOUS INCIDENT shortly after it opened last October. Today, I revisited the play and saw Benjamin Wheelwright, the new alternate, as Christopher. He was just as effective and intense as Sharp; in fact, I enjoyed the show more today than I did last year. Why? Wheelwright's Christopher somehow came across as less grating, more sympathetic, appealing and likable. But I also began to wonder--is that how we should view Christopher? Is he supposed to be likable? If he is, does that somehow counteract the intentions of the playwright and director? I wonder.
