Hir

This was at the top of my list, not only because I am a Taylor Mac fan, but because it sounded truly interesting. That is why it pains me to say how absolutely awful it was. The seats were uncomfortable and the writing barley reached the level of what I would expect to find in a freshman writing class at Brown. I couldn't get out of the theatre fast enough.

if I'm not mistaken, Mac is a NY Times critics darling (like Baker, Karam and Eno)... I will be curious to see what posotive spin they can come up with to sell this mediocre play

Sad because if anyone should be able to write about gender issues, it should be Mac... An important opportunity wasted in my opinion

I saw it last year at the Magic in SF and thought it was pretty damn funny. (though I did spend an inordinate amount of time trying to decipher LGBTTSQQIAA…my problem I suppose).
I don't remember the seats being uncomfortable. Was this added for some "symbolic" reason?

At the talkback the other day, Taylor Mac couldn't remember what the second A is for (and no one else in the room could either, at first). It's for "Ally"...

No, it's because the seats in the upstairs theatre at Playwrights Horizons are uncomfortable.

Seth, a-doy

For what it's worth, I disagree. I found it. Very interesting, theatrical, with much to consider.

I don't think most audiences or critics will agree with you. The response at a talkback I attended was enthusiastic, though I heard some express puzzlement as well. I wouldn't call it brilliant, but it's very much worth seeing, with a great role for Kristine Nielson.
