Christopher shouldn't be hard to like--but he shouldn't be too easy to like, either. Ideally, I think there should be a barrier of "otherness" there initially, between the character and the audience, that's gradually bridged by the actor's performance and the audience's growing familiarity and comfort with the character.

I found Christopher both endearing and annoying. Which was fine with me. Alex Sharp and Taylor Trensch were both excellent in the role. If I can go back cheaply I may see how the play holds up.
