| Macy’s is stuffing its Thanksgiving Day spectacle with bright Broadway stardust. “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Finding Neverland,” “The King and I,” “On Your Feet!” and “Something Rotten!” will strut their stuff at Herald Square on Nov. 26. They’ll be joined by performers from NBC’s “The Wiz Live!” and the legendary leggy Radio City Rockettes. more info at link School of Rock will be on a float | |

| For the same reason they are not performing anywhere else except on the stage (or sometimes at Ham4Ham), and have pulled back much of the B-roll that was floating around at one point. | |

| have pulled back much of the B-roll that was floating around at one point I hate to sound naive, but...why would they do this? If the coming end-of-year roundups feature a couple of minutes of this material, how do they lose? | |

| They filmed about 20 minutes of b-roll footage, and then pulled about half of it, if memory serves. There's still plenty of footage for TV programs to feature. | |

| I don't know but the logical explanation is that they do not want to over-expose the show. In the words of an éminence grise of the theatre, promotion should entice, not satisfy. | |

| I'm not sure it makes a difference exactly but the "why" is what makes any chat board interesting, for me anyway. | |

| Why waste all that money on promotion that they don't need? They're doing just fine without a parade appearance. | |

| The numbers are tricky to put on the pavement. | |

| I am as besotted as anyone on this board. But I don't believe most of the numbers cut well in parade terms, i.e. on that bizarre insignia on the pavement in front of Macy's. Though a truncated "Room Where it Happens" might work, the number out of context makes no easy sense, and it's just too long for the parade. The rap material, brilliant, isn't easy in lip-sync. More critically: why would they want to do anything that might damage the integrity of the piece? They don't need the parade, and the show isn't an easy fit. Wise decision. | |

| No DAMES AT SEA?? They would have made a stellar smash at the Parade. What a shame. | |

| I don't agree that DAMES is a perfect anything in 2015. Nothing about an homage to Busby Berkeley screams "kids" today. I appreciate the fervor, but the show is a parody of the 30s, filtered through the 70s. It's about -- and employs the tropes and musical theater lexicon of -- two eras disconnected from this one. It's sweet, cute, and an odd piece for revival. Odder still for the Macy's Parade. I wish it well, if the audience is out there. But why would these producers, who've already made dubious financial decisions, invest in a 100 grand Parade performance? | |

| Do you REALLY think the DAMES AT SEA producers have the money to pay for a spot in the Parade --- almost $100,000? | |

| Of course they HAVE the money. They just don't want to spend it on something that will not make a difference. | |
