Why wouldn't Hamilton be performing?

For the same reason they are not performing anywhere else except on the stage (or sometimes at Ham4Ham), and have pulled back much of the B-roll that was floating around at one point.

Pulled HAMILTON footage?

I hate to sound naive, but...why would they do this? If the coming end-of-year roundups feature a couple of minutes of this material, how do they lose?

They filmed about 20 minutes of b-roll footage, and then pulled about half of it, if memory serves. There's still plenty of footage for TV programs to feature.

Yes, but why?

I don't know but the logical explanation is that they do not want to over-expose the show. In the words of an éminence grise of the theatre, promotion should entice, not satisfy.

I don't know. Because they wanted to? Why does it make a difference?

I'm not sure it makes a difference exactly but the "why" is what makes any chat board interesting, for me anyway.

Why waste all that money on promotion that they don't need? They're doing just fine without a parade appearance.

The numbers are tricky to put on the pavement.

I am as besotted as anyone on this board. But I don't believe most of the numbers cut well in parade terms, i.e. on that bizarre insignia on the pavement in front of Macy's. Though a truncated "Room Where it Happens" might work, the number out of context makes no easy sense, and it's just too long for the parade. The rap material, brilliant, isn't easy in lip-sync.

More critically: why would they want to do anything that might damage the integrity of the piece? They don't need the parade, and the show isn't an easy fit. Wise decision.
