You say you are not defending the critic, but you actually are -- by maintaining that his actions aren't worthy of coverage, you tacitly endorse allowing his practices of selling comped tickets (and selling influence) to continue. Your argument seems to hinge on your perception of this critic as small-time -- that is, not important enough to warrant excoriation. Yet a quick look at his HuffPo page shows that he is prolific and covers nearly every major and minor Seattle company. If he is telling the truth and his tickets are gratis, then he's fleecing these companies by taking free seats that they could have sold themselves and selling them for his own gain. That may not be illegal, but it is certainly unethical, and I would hope that the theaters he has covered rethink their relationships with him.

No, I began the thread by saying what the critic is doing is sleazy. That is not tacitly (silently) endorsing his actions.
