First of all, the author's gripes with some of the other stars (Streep/Kendrick) leave me dumbfounded, especially Kendrick who started out in theatre. Second, why compromise? There ARE major stars out there who can sing well. It just takes a harder search. I don't necessarily need the actors to sing live but dubbing with another person's voice is just so inauthentic to me.
