I agree. It's immediate, alternately pop catchy, lyrical, folk rocky, and just old fashioned solid show music. (Sometimes in the arrangements, I hear the wonderful cinematic composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, who did "Brokeback Mountain.") Yet it's still of a piece, stitched together with great care, the components all add up. What surprises me: how much of it is given to Evan. It's a big night of singing for a young actor.
