Don't raise your expectations too high for the film "Irene"; I think only the "Alice Blue Gown" segment is really memorable. Debbie Reynolds and then Jane Powell, along with George S. Irving, Patsy Kelly, Ruth Warrick, Janie Sell and Ron Husmann (and Carrie Fisher in the chorus), in the Broadway revival remain terrific memories. Anna Neagle, who starred in the film, I recall her playing Mrs. Higgins in a (not very good) revival I saw of "My Fair Lady"; she had such a reputation in the UK that they added something of a dance number for her at the Imperial Ball!
