I worked with Freddy Warriner at the Yale Rep in the 1970s. He was a wonderful actor and an especially brilliant Shakespearean clown, but he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. I assume when he was cast in musicals it was mainly for his comic abilities.
And I doubt that anyone missed "That's Your Funeral." It's not a particularly good song and it slows the action down when it's just getting started. Easy to cut and easier to reinstate if you have an actor who can make something of it.
