"Increasingly, the NYT is all the NYC arts coverage we have."
That is an incredibly myopic statement. There is, in fact, more NYC arts coverage today than at any time in history. But print media is dying, and the Times is trying (futilely) to keep its corner of it alive. And it does so by pandering (foolishly) to what it perceives as broader readers' interests. Folks can discuss the way they wished the world was as much as they want but we should recognize we are debating which chandelier we like best on the Titanic.
