I found it deeply unrealistic and convenient that a charming and good looking 29 year old in NYC with a normal job has no friends except 3 straight women from his school days, AND that they all get married before they are 30, and that he can't find anyone and is obsessed with how hopeless and sad his prospects are.

I thought act one was a tv movie, act two got much more specific and interesting, but I think if he even had 1 gay friend who found love I would have understood the specific nature of this guy and how his personality might be keeping him back, rather than what came off as a stark and dated look at gay dating.
