I don't believe anyone is advocating for "killing the NEA". I know I am certainly not in favor of that. What I advocate is eliminating federal tax dollars from supporting the NEA. It is unconstitutional to use federal tax dollars to fund the arts. It is also a form of government censorship of the arts, which is also unconstitutional. The NEA should continue to exist via corporate and private donations (like much of the programming for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting), the agency's own fundraising initiatives, and, if the individual states approve, state tax dollars. Via the 10th Amendment, this is where such tax support should come from. I say this so many times to my liberal friends; just because I don't want the federal government to do it doesn't mean I don't it want it to be done.
