Rubenstein knew Picasso since the 1920's - and after finally convincing him to do her portrait, she posed for him from time to time for over 10 years. He refused to ever show her any of his sketches, and he never created a portrait of Rubenstein portrait. She died without seeing any of his sketches of her. And yet in the scene in WAR PAINT where she shows us all the paintings of her by famous.artists, a huge repro of one of Picasso's sketches of her appears in a frame, so she can make a Picasso joke. I know this musical isnt a documentary. But is that joke worth making something up?
