I think most biographical plays have multiple fictionalized moments. I thought War Paint was better than most with this.
But the story of two businesswomen in the first half of the 20th century (who never meet, but are strong competitors) doesn't have enough drama for many/most. Perhaps a good number of people want to see something more, or different, in such a setting, like a cat fight.
But it was/is enough for me, with this duo. I found the evolution of the "beauty business", at least the part depicted here, interesting as well. And the hats! There is a demographic for this show, but it's not really a mainstream property.
