Stu Hamstra, the indefatigable founder, editor and writer of Cabaret Hotline Online, has died at 77.

For 27 years, his printed newsletter and then his website and twice-weekly bulletins (at svhamstra.com) would alert readers to the many wonderful cabaret singers in New York, as well as across the country and even around the world. Stu was tireless, going out nearly night and night in Manhattan, discovering fresh talent or celebrating polished pros. He also gave out his own Cabaret Hotline awards and served as a judge on nominating committees for the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs and the Nightlife Awards. The cabaret community owes Stu a great debt, so here's a toast to one of its biggest boosters.
