I read the whole review and it is extremely positive. You mention a long sequence that Brantley suggests could be cut--and it could--but the two times I saw the show, that scene got a lot of laughs. And it isn't a long scene, really. I think the last musical I attended that got so many laughs was Something Rotten. And before that,
The Book of Mormon. This is a NY Times Critic's Pick so Brantley isn't recommending this show just for Andy Karl.
