Not sure where I first heard the term female baritone and whether I first heard it used to describe Hermione Gingold (who claimed that she'd been a coloratura soprano until she hurt her voice and developed nodes when she was young) or Beatrice Arthur or perhaps someone else. Can also be used to describe Carol Channing, Zarah Leander, Marlene Dietrich and a number of other ladies. And, of course, Nati Mistral, who really sounds very masculine indeed.
