Jake arguably has more of a voice than Daniel Evans, but Evans owns the voice he has and is (or at least was) fully capable of working with it. Jake is not primarily a singer, and he has taken on a challenging role. I felt while listening to him last week that he had Mandy's voice in his head and through sheer will and commitment was trying to sing up to it. Lacking Mandy's power and panache, he offered a weakly supported imitation which became a problem in moments we expect to hear the score soar.
I can not say I heard a wobble or any off-pitch notes last week, but I am sure he is tired from the effort he has undertaken and I don't doubt that he sounded better at City Center. I'll bet he is vocally exhausted as his two-month run winds down. Vocally, his is more an "A for Effort" performance than one for the ages, although his charisma and solid acting talent allow him to be a more accessible, likable George than we have seen or are likely to see any time soon.
