And I agree with you concerning the plays. A scene from each play should be shown. All involved in the plays work just as hard as those in a musical.
I think we all agree that the plays should be given better due. It's amazing, the lengths they've gone through over the years to avoid it at any cost. This year's idea of having the playwrights speak was ok, but I thought there were 2 problems even with that - one is that no matter how well-intentioned, I think their self-descriptions bordered on cliche (the unfortunate cost of trying to make the themes of a play sound "meaningful"in 30 seconds lol) - and I'm not sure what the gimmick was of having their introductions done in the house.
You really would think that it shouldn't be so hard to get it right, lol. |
