| "I always appreciate the issue being raised. In "Follies," we get performances pieces, that recreate performed numbers from the past, and then traditional songs within the framework of the book. I know people on theater boards won't get this, but some audiences back in the day found it inconsistent and confusing at times. I.e, "Who's That Woman" takes the showgirls back to their old number, but "The Road You Didn't Take" invites a character who never sings to express his feelings in song. Yeah, I know, I know, it's a musical. But we have career or retired performers vs. men from the U.N. Trust me, people who don't read theater boards still talk about being confused. " Even those who Do read theater boards seem confused at times. How many conversations have we had concerning "I'm Still Here"? |
