| Eric Gordon reported it is in his Blitzstein bio, and it was repeated by Geoffrey Block in his Enchanted Evenings, with Block citing Gordon. Does Gordon offer a source? I don't know. This the kind of thing that seems a bit suspect to me. Sills revived a lot of "old-fashioned" stuff when she took over as general director of City Opera. |
