I much preferred the Broadway production. The sound, though too loud at times, was better and the B'way show had more energy particularly the opening and closing casts.

Give the US soundtrack a try. I think it's a better recording than the London cast soundtrack.

I hated that they shifted the accents of all the kids on the tour from British to American. Allegedly, this was done "for clarity" but, despite the change, the show still had major problems with audiences not understanding what was being said. Sounds like the producers wanted the cheap fix - change the accent - rather than the expensive one, i.e. fix the sound system. To me, the Britishness is part of the charm and Minchin's wonderful lyrics and Dennis Kelly's book didn't sound quite as biting or emotional when done in the wrong accent.
