I looked up the play's reception, and the Hartford Courant used the off-stage incident as the lede, and built the review around it.

And interesting contrast, all the secrecy in NYC, after being reviewed in a nearby production with the plot fully and openly revealed. Someone has decided this incident is more compelling if unknown going in. Apparently, everyone spends the intermission Google-ing. Is that really useful to appreciate the art here? An open question. Again, when "spoiler" is useful vs. when it's coy or even annoying.
