| I would have loved to have seen Estelle on stage, but was too young for that opportunity. But I certainly grew up on and continue to love her work on Golden Girls. I think when it comes to the first 1-3 seasons, you're largely right. Though she had many funny moments, her delivery was often very stiff and she really wasn't playing in the same league with Betty, Bea and and Rue. But, somewhere between the 3rd and 4th seasons she really found her footing and, to me at least, dramatically improved her performance in every way. More assured, natural delivery, better timing, better chemistry with the others. |
