"Although I've never heard her name mentioned as a possible Dolly, she's such a great actress and so versatile that I'll bet that Angela Lansbury would have been excellent in a Hello Dolly! film."
I was going to mention her, and she would have been a great DOLLY! on film and/or on stage, but I'm including her among the many women who would never have been cast because, rightly or wrongly, she wasn't considered a big enough star to carry a movie like that. Which is why, alas, she didn't get to do the movie of MAME. |
