With all due respect, why is it an issue? If you know when she appears/when not.

This was negotiated into her contract. She was initially reluctantly to commit to a book show, having not done one -- quite literally -- since "Fiddler..." in her youth. She knows her own stamina, what she can give (7 shows a week, not 8, just like Ms. Close), and wants to serve the audience who will fork over top dollar to see her. She had the forethought to plan her run so that she might give her all. And she, the box office, Telecharge, and everyone from Michael Riedel to my cousins in Georgia know when she'll be out. To my thinking, it's the most thoughtfully arranged vacation possible.

And it's ironic that at the same time some people are kvetching about how much better or more authentic or better sung, or {fill in the blank} the Murphy Dolly is, some wishing she were given more of a chance. Well, she's got two full weeks, folks, and you can get it at half price.

But Bette away and Donna on has heads shaking.

"Dolly" is here. Choose your star. Go or not.
