My parents took me to see it in '64 -- I was 15. I liked it at the time and I especially loved Presnell's rendition of "Colorado My Home" (which I assumed was written for the film since it wasn't on the OBC LP -- years later I realized I was mistaken) -- Reynolds was a huge, multi-talented movie star who I had seen many times on the big screen and I was pretty impressionable.

Her movie career faded pretty fast in the later 60's -- she briefly had a TV show and made appearances in other variety shows. She had a nightclub act in which she did impressions of well-known celebrities and also did a lot of mugging, which I began to hate as I got older. Years later when the cable TV and video era began, I found it really hard to watch her performance in The Unsinkable Molly Brown -- it reminded me a lot of the awful schtick that I had grown to dislike from her TV work.

That said, years later I began to re-appreciate her after seeing films like Mother, In & Out and her appearances on Will and Grace. Unfortunately, I still find her hard to take in the Molly Brown film.
