No one should ever be caught working that hard on camera. Her Molly Brown is closer to unwatchable than unsinkable. I think her Oscar nomination was a tribute to what a trouper she was, and she benefited from anti-Jack Warner/Audrey Hepburn sentiment. In my opinion, time has proven far kinder to the dubbed Hepburn.
Interestingly, her best work was in smaller films such as The Catered Affair and The Rat Race. I don't think she would have been good in Hello, Dolly. |
