I heard it was even worse when Michael Moriarty replaced Chamberlain. His fellow Law and Order cast member told me that he bragged how he was going to be spectacular. However, they weren't in agreement when they went to see him do it.
To the poster who asked about Christine Andreas. I saw her and wasn't impressed with her. Neither with Ian Richardson. It was George Rose's sparkplug of an Alfie Doolittle who carried the show and grabbed the Best Actor Tony that year for what is essentially a featured role. I also saw Andreas in Oklahoma!, On Your Toes, and Scarlet Pimpernel. I thought Pimpernel was by far and away her best work. But I do have to say she always sang very well indeed. |
