| Sally Ann Howes would have made a wonderful Irene Malloy; she might have made a good counterpoint to fellow Brit Michael Crawford (if only Gene Kelly could have gotten a believable character out of him). Maureen O'Hara, while a lovely star with a fine singing voice not well showcased in film, didn't really open pictures on her name alone; she was usually co-starred with John Wayne or some other male star. |
