Into the Woods opened November 5, 1987 (postponed by a week from the date originally announced). Bernadette Peters took a week's vacation starting February 23, 1988. Then she played her last performance on March 27 (although she come back for a week the following year when the video was shot).
Mandy Patinkin left Sunday in the Park With George four-and-a-half months after it opened. He also came back to the role later, for two months, in order to get back into the role before the video was shot. Is leaving altogether after four-and-a-half months better or worse than Midler taking a vacation now? |
