I think the closest the show ever got to NY was the Papermill Playhouse production at the end of 1982 with Mark Jacoby and Leigh Beery.
According to Wikipedia(where I refreshed my memory of that presentation)the estate of Besier, playwright of BARRETTS OF WIMPOLE STREET, prevented it from coming to B'way. Whether that still is the case and whether it extended or extends to other venues in NYC, I don't know.
Agree it is a sumptuous score. Until the day comes when I can see it, I'll have to keep playing the fabulous OCR with June Bronhill and Keith Michell.
