| I don't automatically see Day as Dolly myself, but I see Day as Dolly a long time before I see Streisand as Dolly--and I've actually seen Streisand as Dolly! : ) Day was not always that sunny, spunky, eternal-virgin-in-a-sex-comedy that has unfortunately become her stereotype. She could be quite dramatic in some of her roles, as in the rather downbeat musical Love Me or Leave Me or the thrillers The Man Who Knew Too Much and Midnight Lace. These aren't similar roles to Dolly, but, as you say, she was an actress. |
