Mulhare was no stranger to the show, either. He played Higgins more than 1,000 times, starting as a sub for Harrison's vacation in November 1957, and replacing him a month later and continuing through February 1960. His Elizas were Andrews, Howes and Pamela Charles. When named for the role, Actors Equity tried to block his hiring on the grounds he was an Irish actor unheard of in the States.

In another connection with Harrison, Mulhare played the Ghost (Capt. Gregg) in the TV show based on THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR, a role Harrison created in the movie. (And boy, is the original novel weird...)

Laura, who still tears up at the end of that movie, even though she's seen it a zillion times...
