| In addition to the enormous head and the Ascot racegoers descending from the flies, other unusual visual things I seem to remember from that production are the show curtain (which I think one critic compared to Magritte? Though I'm not familiar enough with Magritte's work to know if that was valid) depicting the back of a man's head looking at a bunch of women's hats floating in the sky, and also the fact that Eliza wore pants in the opening scene. (Seems like a minor detail to remember, but I guess it seemed so unexpected to me at the time that it stuck with me.) |
