I know Michael, and used to edit his copy at the Daily News. I'm pretty sure not even Michael would want to write a daily column.
It's enough of a challenge to come up with two columns a week, especially in an Internet age where news is breaking 24/7.
I've edited my share of daily showbiz columns (Liz Smith, Marilyn Beck, Gatecrasher, Rush & Molloy, etc.), and they're a bear to write.
Finding enough material to fill them is like feeding a monster with an insatiable appetite. They're a grind and an easy way to burn out. |
