| The judgement happening in this thread from people unconnected to this production and this actor is kind of off-putting to me, and is not new for ATC. He could have been in rehearsals and production realized an element of his costume isn't appropriate for this actor, or his shoes need to be re-built from scratch. Perhaps in rehearsals, they saw Oak's large physical presence affected the storytelling with Denee Benton, and Ms. Chavkin was not immediately available to re-stage sections that needed adjustment. Maybe he sprained his ankle and needs a week to get healed! Maybe a MILLION things could have happened, yet the immediate response here is snark, judgement upon the actor, and judgement on the production. I'm sure he would love to be in the show at his announced start date. I'm sure the producers would love to have their new leading man in the show on his announced start date. This is Broadway, there is absolutely a good reason for this, and we may never have an answer. But it doesn't automatically mean the actor or the production are slacking, lazy, or up to some nefarious plot to keep Oak out of the show for a week. Oy vey. Ok sorry, rant over. But can't y'all give the benefit of the doubt once in a while?? |
