| I suppose she is better in the later parts, but I remember feeling that even there she's still working too hard. Maybe this impression in part stems from how hard she seems to be working in the earlier parts of the film, so that even later you're predisposed to be aware of her as working hard. Anyway, I agree that the show and the movie are simply not that good to start with. It's amazing that it was performed a lot in stock over the next few years. A bunch of women who were well-known enough to head stock tours wanted to play that role. God knows why. To work that hard all night for so little payoff, but I guess they didn't think that the payoff was that small. |
