Donna Murphy is busy. Angela Lansbury is basically retired except for occasional one-night events. Where she can mostly sit. Can even Chita run around all night changing costumes at this point? Who would want Sarah Brightman? And even if they did want her, she would be offered much less money than she'd probably be willing to take. But still what would they do with her in a show like this? Similarly, I can't see Michael Crawford, who also does not strike me as the most versatile of performers, being willing to be part of an ensemble for MTC salaries.
That leaves Peters and Cumming. Prince has never worked with either. The questions that come up with some of the others come up with them: willingness to be part of an ensemble and salary. |
