These clips are wonderful. But for me, Weede's Broadway triumph was his Phil in Milk and Honey. I love that show, although I think it's virtually un-revivable today - I can just imagine the protests screaming about the glorification of the occupation of the Palestinian territory. (Which it's not, but do facts matter these days?} But that doesn't stop me from dreaming about a Broadway revival with Paolo Szot and Kate Baldwin. And while I'm dreaming - if she's having a great time on Broadway but maybe only wants to steal the show next time instead of carrying it, and would settle for a supporting actress Tony - I can't think of a better Clara Weiss than Bette Midler.
I don't know if this attachment is allowed, but I've never read a better appreciation of Milk and Honey than the attached one by Peter Filicia. He says it better than I can. |
