| This is what you wrote: Announcing it mere days before he was to step in, after a half year of promotion, without giving an explanation of any sort... the only word I can think of to describe this is one I can't use on a public forum. How can one read what you wrote without concluding that your claim is that they purposefully timed the announcement? You don't even consider the possibility that this actually happened at the last minute, that maybe they were hoping that Oak would be ready and he finally decided he wasn't , or that they had to scramble to see if Molloy felt comfortable enough to do the part before they announced the understudy, or that somehow someone was unhappy that someone was largely unavailable to put him in the show or that someone's agent insisted that the announcement be delayed. There are just a few possibilities. They announcement that Jenna Elfman “wasn’t ready to go into Nine” was made one day before she was scheduled to appear. There isn’t a single person connected with the profession who doesn’t know that untrue alibis are agreed upon to tactfully protect people. The producers of La Cage said that Jeffrey Tambor leaving because of a hip injury. Years later he admitted he just couldn't do the part. Elfman didn't "need more rehearsal. David Shiner had a month’s vacation coming to him in Seussical? Was someone involved in “Book of Mormon” going to elaborate as to why one of the show’s original creators left the project? This really isn't a PR blunder at all. There's really not a way to put a positive spin when someone who the show's producers think will sell tickets after Josh Groban is now starting late. He's not ready to do the show--that's all one can say. No producer or PR person can insist that a celebrity stick to exact wording on social media. Nothing especially harmful has happened here. Yes, of course, these things bring up speculation. They do even when they’re the truth, because people have lied about things so often. I agree that the producers have bungled some PR things, but we just don't know enough about the situation to say that in this case. |
