well S/F's 2nd post clearly states that the decision to postpone was not being questioned and indeed that, as you had said, we did not have the facts, but that what was being questioned was the PR. So your first paragraph is responding to a non-controversy.

re going off the reservation, of course that happens, but that does not appear to be relevant here. And as I said, the comments here are about the producer not the publicist. It may surprise you to learn that, with all due respect, publicists are not usually present when things like this are dealt with upfront.

I don't think anyone wants to use Spider-Man as a benchmark. In producing, one wants to aspire to be as good as the best, not less bad than the worst.

I can't believe that as a PR person you would say there is no positive spin here. Knocking down the negative speculation that's out there is positive spin, unless the speculation is right, in which case you are still better off owning it and salvaging what you can. Maybe you are being defensive for whatever reason (I don't think you have reason to be even if you are somehow involved because I lay this on the producer) but I honestly don't think many would agree with you. Happily, we agree about Dolly :-)
