Everyone knows Marni Nixon dubbed the singing voices of Natalie Wood in ''West Side Story'' and Audrey Hepburn in ''My Fair Lady.''
But there were so many unsung artists, like India Adams, Bill Lee & Annette Warren, who ghosted the vocals for many other stars.
I LostVocals' ''Dubbing Through the Decades, Part 1' video (linked below) features many of the better-known examples.
Yet there were many surprises (to me): Juanita Hall, dubbed in ''South Pacific''? (Plus, there's a Part II sequel to ''Dubbing,'' too.)
In today's age of autotune, I wonder if that's cut down the need for dubbing, or can you think of many modern examples? |
