Personally, i think when she threatens to call his last parish and he then leaves, that is a sign of guilt. But not all think that. So there is doubt that he guilty.
And even if he is guilty, by allowing him to go to another school and be their problem would leave most of us in doubt did we do the right thing and not stop him permanently.
and then there is the fundamental question of whether God exists and allows such things to happen in God's house.
There are probably other meanings. It is a great ending to discuss after the play and yet not so ambiguous ending to be frustrating like some plays. |
